I have been tottally green for almost 11 years now, I din't mean to start that way but I did. I had a chance to buy 40 acres in AZ and I took it, I have no land lines, I have solar and wind power, satillite computer and a cell phone, and we built our home board by board and it is paid for, it was not a easy journey and I read allot of books, once it was all I learned to adjust. I don't leave water runnig and I turn off anything not used, Did you know that a tv is always on? even when turned off, so it is on a breaker bar. I do not have any big systems, just a hybrid, maybe one day. The only problem is the expense of putting it in we saved by installing ourselves. The upfront costs is high. But I love looking at the stars at night with no street lights
very cool, I've been into green building for 13 years and I have a house in South Scottsdale that I'm doing a green remodel on. I also work for a solar company (as a system designer) and it's only a block away from my home. All electronics have a phantom power usage, TV's & PC's are some of the worst power consumers.
I understand. I don't have the money to do what you are doing but I am comfortable, The summer is the hardest because I rerally needed a bigger system, I just shut down everything not in use to use the swamp cooler, there is no way I could use a AC but you know that after a 100 a swamp cooler isn't much good. I live 27 miles up Alamo Rd, in the Mohave Desert.
